On February 18, 1977, Angel Maria Tonna, a cattle rancher woke up and began doing his chores around his 3,000-acre property. Tonna, his family and numerous workers kept busy with large acreage and tending to hundreds of cattle and sheep. Their lives up until February 1977 were pretty typical for a rural family. However strange things had been happening to the family fairly recently, they had been seeing UFOs around the property. Despite this, it was business as usual, and on February 18th Mr. Tonna, his foreman and the family dog named Dunce began to work.
Mr. Tonna turned on the generator to light up and the property and soon, around 4:10 am, Tonna and his foreman were driving around 80 cows toward the barn for milking. Then, suddenly the generator lights went out. On the far side of the barn though, Tonna, around 100 yards away, spotted a bright light. At first, Tonna thought it was a fire and began running toward it accompanied by Dunce. Then suddenly he heard a loud bang and saw a burning object that was hovering behind the barn just off the ground.
The craft had two disc like plates and was a bright orangish color. Tonna watched in amazement until his foreman caught up to him and notified him the cows were going crazy and running away. In addition, all the dogs were barking.
Right then, the object began moving south away and over some trees. Tonna, his foreman and Dunce would run away from it, heading west on the property, however they kept it in sight. The light from the craft was extremely bright, lighting up the whole property. The object moved about 100 feet south of the barn. The light seemed to have some sort of mystical effect on Tonna as he began moving toward it. As Tonna was seemingly pulled toward it, dunce came along, and the craft reversed direction heading toward Tonna. It got withing about 60 feet of Tonna. and at this point Dunce ran toward the object to protect Tonna but stopped short around 15 feet. It sat on the ground and looked up at the object howling.
As the object got toward Tonna he said he felt intense heat and electric shocks throughout his body. He tried to cover his eyes from the light as it was so bright, but he was somehow drawn to it.
Tonna would watch the craft for several minutes after which it would turn from orange to red and begin moving away. It moved over the forest and soon was out of sight.
While Tonna, his foreman and Dunce witnessed the event from the yard, his son, who was then 19 years old saw the craft from inside the house.

The family would feel the effects after the sighting. Mr. Tonna ‘s arm, the same one which he held to block the light, was extremely red. A doctor examined it and said it was most likely due to radiation. In time, the wound would heal.
While Mr. Tonna recovered, the family dog Dunce did not. After the incident Dunce refused to eat. Three days later Dunce went to the same mound where he had looked up at the craft and died.
An autopsy performed revealed all the blood vessels had ruptured. It concluded that something, not natural and very hot had caused the dog to die from internal bleeding.

As briefly mentioned earlier, this family experienced sightings for several months in early 1977. On the day of February 18, other farmers in the area would report seeing bright lights from their farms. While Dunce unfortunately died, it seems the family was able to move on peacefully with their lives.
