The Strange Alien Abduction of Antonio Da Silva

On May 4th, 1969, around 3 pm, Brazilian Antonio Da Silva, a solider, was fishing at a lake near Belo Horizonte when he heard some rustling in the bushes behind him. Then, he heard some faint voices and sensed someone creeping up. Unexpectedly, an intense beam of light blasted his legs and paralyzed him. Next two unknown creatures, standing 4-ft-tall, and wearing silver suits and masks appeared and grabbed him. They put him into a cylindrical craft and forced a helmet over his head.

Da Silva felt the craft rise. The beings talked among themselves in a language he did not recognize. After a long period of travel, he felt a jarring that suggested their craft had landed. Da Silva was then blindfolded and led to a large room, where they removed the wrap from his eyes.

He was inside a stone chamber face-to-face with a stocky dwarf, who was staring at him “with apparent satisfaction”. Da Silva described the dwarf as having long hair, reddish and wavy, the hair was down behind past his shoulders to the waist. His beard was long and thick and came down to his stomach. His skin was light-colored, very pale. His eyes were round, larger than normal and of a green shade.”

The brightly lit cavern was decorated with paintings of animals, landscapes and vehicles. Four motionless human bodies were lying on a low stone shelf, and Da Silva wondered if they had been killed by his captors.

A dozen more dwarves, identical to the first, entered the chamber and clustered around the bewildered DaSilva. They made him drink some green liquid from a pyramid-shaped stone chalice. Then they searched his pockets and helped themselves to his identity card, some fishhooks and a single banknote.

Using a mixture of sign language and drawings, the dwarf leader asked him if he would spend three years on Earth, collecting some specimens and information for them, and then spend seven years with them in their world. After that, he would be returned to Earth.

Da Silva rejected their offer, which made the aliens angry. Then Da Silva thought about those dead bodies and prayed by touching a crucifix around his neck. The leader got irritated with the crucifix snatched it and put it into his pocket.

Then, a robed, and barefoot Christ-like figure appeared and spoke to Da Silva in his native Portuguese. The dwarves seemed unaware of the figure’s presence. The apparition made a mysterious revelation concerning “the future of humanity” and vanished. Da Silva refused to disclose what was said but was clearly shaken by the words.

The dwarves blindfolded their prisoner again and took him back to Earth. Da Silva found himself stranded outside Vitoria, 200 miles away from where he had been abducted.

Only his identity card, which the aliens had examined, had disappeared. He had a swollen knee where the ray had struck him and three open wounds on his neck where the helmet had rubbed against his skin. He had been away four and a half days.

One of the central questions in this case is how Da Silva travelled the 200 miles from Bebedouro to Vitoria, and where his physical body was during his 4.5-day absence.

Suggestions have been made as to what happened with him.

Some believe this could have been an initiation ritual.

Jacques Vallee points out the striking parallels between the man’s experience and initiation ordeals.

Initiation rituals are characterized by the following general scenes: the candidate is confronted by members of the occult group wearing a special costume; he is blindfolded; he is led by the arm along a rough and difficult route; he is taken into a specially designed chamber with no windows; he is brought into the presence of a ‘master’; he is given a test and made to answer questions; he is shown a variety of symbols designed to remind him of death; the situation suggests he may not survive the ordeal; he is given ritual food or drink; he is blindfolded again and led outside.

All these elements are present in the case of Antonio da Silva.

Others believe this abduction did in fact occur as evidenced it was such a bizarre story to make up.
